WHERE IT ALL BEGAN...
2015 WISCONSIN STATE DANCESPORT
This was the first dance "remix" video I made back in 2015.
After a long week of pro-am dancing with my students at the Wisconsin State Dancesport Championships in 2015, I decided to break out my brand new Panasonic GH4 camera. I had no idea what to capture, I had no idea what I would do with the footage, it just sounded like fun.
I stared at the menu on the camera. One of the fancy features of this camera was that it was able to capture high-quality slow-motion video.
I wondered to myself what professional dancesport would look like slowed-down. The intricate movements, the expressions, the slow isolated body movements. I flipped the switch to slow motion and captured this. A couple of weeks later, I chose a song that I felt was upbeat but still had some emotional resonance to it. This is what I ended up creating.
My favorite moment has always been the final shot panning across the Open Professional Rhythm dancers. They all lined up perfectly, I couldn't have designed a better shot. Enjoy!
